Music in the Mountains opens its 25th season in 2011 as a world-class festival of classical music. This three-week festival, in July, features numerous concerts performed by world-renowned musicians in multiple venues, including: Durango Mountain Resort. Walk out your door to experience the shows in the beautiful surroundings.

September 29 - October 2, 2011
       Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering. The Gathering is an exciting, fun-filled event with evening performances and Saturday daytime sessions. Poets and musicians from throughout the country grace an intimate stage at the Diamond Circle Theatre, performing classic and contemporary poems and songs that will bring tears to your eyes and keep you in stitches.



•  WALK, LUNCH, WINE WITH A LLAMA. Only available on scheduled dates from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Purgatory Mountain.  The price is $25. per person or $40. a couple.  Join Lois the llama lady and a San Juan Mountain Association naturalist for this special trek.  Ride the chair lift to the top, learn about the beauty of the area while hiking to a vista overlooking the Animas Valley where you will enjoy wine, cheese, crackers and lunch.  The llamas carry everything.  The hike is 6 moderate miles round trip.  Bring your own water, sunscreen hiking boots, rain gear.  To register contact Gabi Morey at 970-385-1256 or gabi@sjma.org
